Beginning Painting Class
Saturdays from 9am to 12 pm starting March 3 thru March 31 (5 weeks)

In this course you will learn the techniques of oil painting including composition, value and color.
We will use water soluable oil paint which is easy to use and cleans up with soap and water. The class will be taught using teacher demonstation and individual instruction. It will be a fun class and any skill level is welcome!
*we will go over the materials in the first class so it's not necessary to have all of the painting items. Bring a pencil, eraser and sketch pad to the first class
Water soluble Oil Paint:
Michaels sells a Windsor Newton starter set including many of the colors. Also, Dickblick.com has an expanded set and also has great prices on brushes and cotton canvas including their own brand.
Colors: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light, Lemon Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna.
Brushes should be long handled including flat, filberts, and rounds. You can purchase a set with each type of brush. Sizes should be at least one ¼ “ flat, one ½” , and 1”, even larger would be okay, one mop brush or fluffy brush for edges.
Two to three Pre-stretched cotton canvases in a standard size- 8" x 10", 9" x 12" or 11” x 14”.
you can use a traditional hand held palette, a melamine-laminated is
very easy to clean. I use palette paper, which comes in many sizes and can be disposed of easily.
If you can bring a medium sized glass jar with lid for water, that would be helpful.

Situated in the scenic central New England area, Ferol creates paintings that focus on local landscapes, as well as still life subjects incorporating native elements. Many of her works are done “en plein air”, recreating scenes while on location.
Ferol has completed several classes at the Worcester Art Museum and New England School of Fine Art. In 2015, she completed a plein air workshop in Tuscany, Italy.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the Central New England area. She paints on location and from her studio located in the historic Manchaug Mills building in Sutton, Massachusetts.
